Well, I'm writing this in hopes of being chosen as the winner of the HP computer package being given away by Living in Theory.
Here's what I would do with the goods if I win.
First of all, it's certainly the season to think of others. And I'd do that by donating computers to two organizations close to my heart. The first is the Charlotte Rescue Mission (charlotterescuemission.org). They do incredible work, helping those in need in this city. I've been a supporter of theirs for a few years now. And, of course, always hope to be able to do more for them.
The second organization is in my small hometown in Ohio. It's the Caring Kitchen, a food pantry/shelter/assistance ministry that helps many, many people in need. Most of my family still lives in this small town and my parents are active supporters of this group. We personally know several people who have been help by this organization in times of need.
It's so unfortunate that the economy is so bad this year. While charities always need help, they will need even more than ever this time. So, I'd be thrilled to win this HP package to be able to pay it forward and be part of the magic this year. Thanks!

Those sound like some great organizations that would really benefit from your sharing this great gift. Take care!
ReplyDeleteI am sure both of those organizations are very busy right now, and would greatly appreciate your giving heart.
ReplyDeleteGood luck from a southern girl moving eventually to a western (and moutainous city.)
Yes, charities are hit very hard during economic downtimes, because so many more people need the help! Blessing to you and your family for the work you do!
ReplyDeleteAs I read your post, it suddenly struck me how much my parents have impacted my desire to serve. You mentioned that your parents are active volunteers at the Caring Kitchen and that now, you want to donate there. I think about the many ways in which my parents have taught me to serve over the years. Their example is significant in my life. I appreciate your post, because it made me stop and reflect on how blessed I have been to have such parents and such great opportunities in my life.
ReplyDeleteI wish you luck in these contests and hope you have a terrific holiday season!
Both charities sound wonderful. Best of Luck.
ReplyDeleteFrom a fellow Buckeye (born and raised, OSU '93) it's great to hear about your desire to help your hometown ministry. Good luck to you & Happy Holidays!
ReplyDeleteO-H...!

Thanks for sharing in both north and south. It is sad that charities get hit hardest first in many cases. You would help to alleviate that if you won! Thank you!
ReplyDeleteIt is great to see that helping charitable organizations is a way of life for you. This is evidenced by the fact that you searched for and assist an organization in the town where you are far from home.
ReplyDeleteWill you be visiting your folks back in Ohio for the holidays? Best of luck to you and those close to your heart
The economy really has hit so many people, and hit hard. I think it's important to try to do as much as possible to help them. Kudos to you!
